Loss of a Leader
All of the members of the National Space Society Chapter Network wish one of our Chapter Leaders, Dr.Randall Chambers of the Wichita Chapter of NSS, a final farewell.
Just yesterday I received the notice below from Claire McMurray, of the Oklahoma Space Alliance NSS chapter, informing me of Dr. Chamber's passing.

Friday while in Wichita, Cliff McMurray and I tried to phone our old acquaintance Dr. Randall Chambers. Mrs. Chambers called back and let us know that Dr. Chambers died suddenly on December 6, 2007.
Professor Chambers, a Wichita State University distinguished professor emeritus, was NASA project director for acceleration research and training from 1958-74 and continued active in research after his retirement. He co-authored the 2006 book, Getting Off the Planet: Training Astronauts (Apogee Books), with his wife, Mary Jane Chambers. He was also a long-time NSS activist and a very nice man.
An on-line guest book may be signed at http://www.webfh.com/fh/obituaries/obituary.cfm?o_id=156388&fh_id=11107&s_id=03B1B149967463910A025A895FE6CBCE
Memorials have been established and may be sent to University United Methodist Church or the Dr. Randall M. Chambers Memorial Scholarship Fund at Wichita State University, c/o WSU Foundation, 1845 Fairmount, Box #2, Wichita, Kansas 67260.
Ad Astra,
Claire McMurray

This is, indeed, a sad occasion and we send our love and support to his wife Mrs. Chambers, his children, family members and friends. Dr. Randall Chambers will be missed by all of us in the National Space Society.
I include below a few links that contain brief bios of Dr. Chambers.
Sincerely...and..
To The Stars,
