This
position has a two year term and can continue without limit by election of the
chapter body. The position
of
the President does not require prior membership in any other chapter position
or prior chapter membership
The President will ultimately be responsible to see that the
chapter is consistently active and maintains a positive and dynamic public
appearance. This includes helping to organize meetings, finding guest
lecturers, organizing conferences, making important decisions, holding regular
meetings with the other officers, and suggesting public outreach events.
This
position has a two year term and can continue without limit by election of the
chapter body
. The position of the Vice President
requires at least one year prior local
chapter membership from date of election or by nomination of the Board of Directors.
The Vice President
will help the President organize events and meetings and be a general support
for the President, help to make important decisions, etc. The Vice Presidents
can help introduce the meetings, especially when the President is unable to
attend. The VP will also make plan membership drives
This
position has a two year term and can continue without limit by election of the
chapter body. The position
of
the Secretary does not require prior membership in any other chapter position
or prior chapter membership.
The Secretary will be
responsible for taking notes at meetings and doing a short summary of each
meeting to be included on the web site, and sometimes in Ad Astra (NSS's
magazine). The secretary will also be responsible for making sure the annual
report gets filled out and sent in to NSS headquarters
This
position has a two year term and can continue without limit by election of the
chapter body. The position
of
the Treasurer requires at least two years prior local active chapter membership
from date of election.
The Treasurer will keep track of NSS/NYC funds and be
responsible for the bank account. The treasurer will also help to make
important decisions about how the money gets spent

Elections for this individual. Can have
more than one Science Writer. President
has final decision on who fills this position.
Primary
Science Writer will have voting rights on all matters except when it concerns
the dismissal of another board member.
The Science Writer will keep current with Space and
Astronomy News and do monthly write-ups for the chapter website. When needed
the science writer will also contribute to chapter handouts, letters or other.
This person will consider it their duty to inform the President of important
facts that would be helpful to the President in her/his responsibilities of
keeping the chapter dynamic.
This
position has a two year term and can continue without limit by election of the

the Project Director does not require prior
membership in any other chapter position or prior chapter membership.
Local chapter board members
elected on August 20, 2005, Note:
President and Vice President positions have been filled by
nomination and unanimous vote of the BOD at
NSS-NYC meeting June 3, 2006 to fill the vacant positions due to Greg
Zsisidin’s relocation to Huntsville, Alabama to pursue a career in
Aerospace. The President & VP term
will run to the completion of the existing two year term [August 2005 –
September 2007].
Also July 2006 Board vote to fill the vacant position of Treasurer. Candace
Pankanin resigned to free up time to work with the New Jersey chapter NSSNJN
Society for space Education of which she is the President. The Treasurer
position term will run to the completion of the existing two year term [August
2005-September 2007]
