Creating a Chapter Website from Scratch
You Don't Need to Know HTML!

There are any number of "You get what you see" "HTML Editors" out there. Many ISP Providers (AOL, Homestead, many, many more) have webpage making software that you can download free.

And there are plenty of shareware and commercial HTML Editors. This webmaster learned how to do web pages at the ripe old age of 61 with a chapter-purchased copy of Claris Home Page 3.0 for Macs. It was as easy as falling off a log. Even if you are a younger dog, you can learn this exciting and fulfilling new trick. There are many more HTML editors on the market. If you do not know HTML, no need to delay.

Once you have your chapter website up, you can start picking up html tricks and refine your creation with time.

Your Chapter Needs to be Online - Now!

  • It will help you keep your members informed of meetings, events, activities, progress on projects, chapter history, etc.
  • It will attract new members, visitors to your site, to join your chapter - they will be better able to find your chapter on the web if it has a "predictable" URL on one of the three Society web servers above
  • It will help other chapters find you, keep up with what you are doing, learn from your achievements, successes, even from your "learning experiences"
  • It may lead to "joint project ventures" between your chapter and (an)other chapter(s) with kindred interests and complementary expertise
  • In short, you have so much to gain, nothing to lose!

Why you should move your "Existing Website" - or at least a duplicate "entry page" to one of these servers

  • It will new visitors to your site who will better be able to find your chapter on the web if it has a "predictable" URL on one of the three Society web servers above
  • It will help other chapters find you (shortens the search), keep up with what you are doing, learn from your achievements, successes, even from your "learning experiences"
  • It may lead to "joint project ventures" between your chapter and (an)other chapter(s) with kindred interests and complementary expertise

CyberTeams, Inc. Acknowledgement

We are getting both "webhosting and website maintenance software courtesy of CyberTeams, inc."

It is fitting to put some form of acknowledgement of this donation at the bottom of your main page.

Here are some suggestions (the choice is yours) as to the form that might take.

The Idea is to Create a Common Watering Hole

  • More Networking
  • More Access to Available Resources
  • Less "Axle Reinvention"
  • Higher Productivity for your Chapter, your Society, and the whole Space Frontier Movement
