Project HALO Status Report

Balloon Test Day #5

Held on Sunday, February 16, 1997 from a field in Mississippi

The following previously unpublished text would have been, given more time and space, part of an article by Ronnie Lajoie, which was to be published in the March-April 1997 issue of the Southeastern Space Supporter, newsletter of HAL5.

The fifth HALO Balloon Test Day was held on Sunday, February 16, when members of HAL5’s Project HALO launched a Topex high-altitude balloon to test GPS equipment.  The experiment itself was successful.  Unfortunately, the balloon landed in a remote section of western Tennessee and require two weeks to be found.  Fortunately, all of our precious flight equipement was recovered.
